First launch

To be upfront: this first release isn't code-signed yet, so your system will show a warning the first time you open it. Here's how to get past it, once.

Windows

  1. Open Pryzm_0.1.1_x64-setup.exe.
  2. If “Windows protected your PC” appears, click “More info”.
  3. Then click “Run anyway”.

macOS

  1. Open the .dmg and drag Pryzm into Applications.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) Pryzm, then choose “Open”.
  3. If macOS still blocks it: System Settings → Privacy & Security → “Open Anyway”.

Linux

  1. AppImage: make the file executable, then run it.chmod +x Pryzm_0.1.1_amd64.AppImage && ./Pryzm_0.1.1_amd64.AppImage
  2. .deb package: install it with apt.sudo apt install ./Pryzm_0.1.1_amd64.deb

Then, three steps

1

Install Pryzm

Open the file and follow the installer. On first launch, Pryzm downloads its embedding model (118 MB) from pryzm-memory.com; after that, nothing leaves your machine.

2

Connect an AI

Open Pryzm, then “Connect an AI”: Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code connect in one click.

3

Tell it something to remember

Start a new conversation (restart the AI if it was already open) and tell it a fact, such as “I'm training for a marathon in April”. In another conversation, ask what it knows about you.

On your computer, or everywhere?

Both give your AIs a memory. The difference is where that memory lives.

Nothing is final: you can export your memory from the app and import it into Pryzm Cloud.

Frequently asked questions

Is Pryzm for desktop really free?

Yes. The app is free, with no account and no sign-up: you download it, install it, and that's it. Only Pryzm Cloud, the hosted plan for having your memory on the web and on your phone, has paid plans, with a free plan to start.

Where are my memories stored?

On your computer, in a local SQLite database. The embeddings, which let Pryzm find a memory by its meaning, are computed on your machine. On first launch, the app downloads its embedding model (118 MB) from pryzm-memory.com; after that, nothing leaves your machine. What an AI reads from your memory is processed by that AI's provider, like the rest of the conversation.

Why does Windows or macOS show a warning?

This first release isn't signed with a Microsoft or Apple developer certificate yet, so the system doesn't recognise the publisher and warns you. To check the file is intact, compare its SHA-256 checksum with the one on this page, then follow the “First launch” steps.

Which AIs does it work with?

Desktop AIs that support MCP: Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code, connected in one click from the “Connect an AI” screen. claude.ai on the web, the Claude mobile app and ChatGPT can't reach a program installed on your computer: for those, you need Pryzm Cloud.

Can I move to Pryzm Cloud later?

Yes. Export your memory from the app, then import it into Pryzm Cloud: the export and import formats are compatible. Your memories come with you, without repeating everything to your AIs.
