Import your ChatGPT memory into Pryzm (and share it with Claude)
ChatGPT already knows you. One message gets it to reread its memory and pour it into Pryzm, where all your connected AIs can use it.
Updated 30 October 2026. Pryzm's behaviour checked in its code on that date; ChatGPT menus taken from OpenAI's help centre.
To import your ChatGPT memory into Pryzm Memory, open Settings → “Import what your AIs already know” in Pryzm, copy the suggested message and paste it into ChatGPT. If ChatGPT is connected to Pryzm with write access, it saves each fact itself. Otherwise, it replies with a list that you paste back into Pryzm. No export file: ChatGPT rereads its own memory. Pryzm is a persistent memory shared across AIs over MCP: what lands there is then available in Claude, Cursor and your other connected AIs.
Two methods, depending on your ChatGPT
- Method A: ChatGPT connected to Pryzm with write access. Per OpenAI's help centre, that's the Business, Enterprise and Edu plans. ChatGPT saves each fact itself.
- Method B: ChatGPT not connected, or read-only (for example the Pro plan, read-only per OpenAI, or the free plan). ChatGPT produces a list that you paste into Pryzm. It works with any plan.
Before you start
- Make sure ChatGPT's memory is on for the import, so it finds as much as possible: Settings → Personalization → Memory. Depending on your account, you'll see controls such as “Reference saved memories” or “Reference chat history”.
- On Pryzm's free plan (100 memories, 1 project), the import stops once 100 memories are reached. With method A, add to the message: “Use a single project”, otherwise facts filed in a second project are refused.
ChatGPT's memory controls are described in OpenAI's help centre.
Method A: ChatGPT saves it itself
- In Pryzm, open Settings, the “Import what your AIs already know” card, the “AI connected to Pryzm” tab, then Copy the message.
- In ChatGPT, start a new chat, type @ and pick the Pryzm plugin, then paste the message and send it.
- Confirm the saves. Write actions require confirmation by default in ChatGPT: review each fact, then accept.
- Check. At the end, ChatGPT reports how many memories it saved. They appear under Memory in your Pryzm dashboard.
The message asks for one fact per memory, written to make sense on its own, and excludes passwords, banking details and health information. A fact repeated word for word is reinforced, not duplicated.
Method B: a list to paste back
- In Pryzm, same card, “AI not connected” tab, then Copy the message.
- Paste it into ChatGPT, on the web or in the app. It replies with a list between brackets, in JSON format.
- Review the list. Delete anything wrong, stale or too personal: it's the one moment you see at once everything an AI thinks it knows about you.
- Copy the whole reply into the Pryzm card's box, then click Import into Pryzm. Pryzm shows how many memories were imported.
A list can hold up to 1,000 memories per import. On the free plan, facts filed under a project other than yours land in the general space instead of being refused.
After the import
- Test from another AI. In Claude, ask “What do you know about me? Check Pryzm.” Claude finds what ChatGPT put there.
- Decide what to do with ChatGPT's own memory. If you leave it on, it keeps evolving on its side and can compete with Pryzm.
- The same message works with other AIs: Claude, Le Chat or Perplexity can do the same with what they know about you.
If something doesn't work
- “I can't find a readable list” (method B): you copied only part of the reply. Copy all of it, brackets included.
- ChatGPT says it knows nothing about you: its memory is off or empty. Turn it on for the import.
- ChatGPT stops after a few facts: say “Continue”, or ask it to go topic by topic (work, projects, preferences).
- ChatGPT doesn't offer the save tool: your plan is read-only or the plugin isn't called. Switch to method B.
- “The free plan includes 1 project” message (method A): see “Before you start”.
- Duplicates: importing the same list twice adds the memories twice. Delete duplicates in your Pryzm dashboard.
To decide what to keep from that list, see what to store in your AI memory. If you only want to move from ChatGPT to Claude, without a shared memory, see transfer your ChatGPT memory to Claude.
Frequently asked questions
Do you need to export your ChatGPT data to import its memory?
No. The message Pryzm provides asks ChatGPT to reread its own memory and your conversations: no export file is needed.
Does it work with free ChatGPT?
Yes, with method B: ChatGPT produces a list that you paste into Pryzm. Method A needs ChatGPT connected to Pryzm with write access.
How many memories can you import?
Up to 1,000 per import. On Pryzm's free plan, the total is capped at 100 memories.
Will Claude have access to it?
Yes, if it is connected to the same Pryzm account: everything imported is available to your connected AIs.
